Conviction vs. Action

At a stop light?

Under the interstate overpass?

On the park bench?

You've seen him before.

Get too close and you know you'll smell him. By the looks of it he's in need of food, clothes, and shelter. In your stomach, you get that feeling you know you should help. In fact, you know you could help.

That fast food gift card is still in your pocket...but would he even use it?

 Drugs?

Alcohol?

Mental illness?

Fell on hard times?

Who knows.

 Instead...

You turn up your ear buds, make no eye contact, and audibly lock your car door as you pass.

“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

You believe that God is one; you do well.

Even the demons believe—and shudder!"

James 2:17, 19

We encounter issues on the daily. Some big. Some small.

  • Confronting a child with the web search history you found

  • A husband who needs to cut off unhealthy relationships with women that are not his wife

  • Setting cell phone boundaries to protect the family

  • Asking for accountability in areas you are weak

Each problem has its own opportunity for...

  • Success or failure

  • Obedience or negligence

  • Integrity or dishonesty

  • Unity or division

  • Grace and Peace or Shame and Guilt

Sex and porn addiction is a large problem. What is the appropriate action to take? It isn't hiding, lying, or running from accountability.

Instead...

It is acknowledgement, confession, and repentance.

It is community, heart transformation, and accountability.

It is seeking help when you are weak, owning your mistakes, and being transparent.

Faith without works is dead.

With the spirit's help, take action today.
